Get Your Brand Noticed with a New Backlit Hopup Display

New Backlit Hopup Displays

So What Exactly is a Hopup Display?

Hopup Displays use an accordion style frame, similar to traditional Pop-Up Displays. The biggest difference is that Hopup Displays feature a single-piece, dye-sublimated fabric graphic instead of multiple laminated panels. This makes setup fast and easy as the graphic simply Velcro's onto the frame and once it's attached it never needs to be removed as it can stay on even when the frame is collapsed for storage.

Available Hopup Sizes

We currently offer three different sizes of Backlit Hopup Display. We have our standard 10 ft wide version that's designed to tightly fill a 10 x 10 trade show booth. We offer a slightly smaller 8 ft version (it's really 7.5 ft wide but we rounded up) that will give your booth some room to breath or can be used in non standard sized trade show booths. And we also offer a 5 ft table top version of the display for smaller events or exhibitors on a tighter budget who still want an eye-catching solution.

What Are the Benefits of a Backlit Display?

Think of it this way—you're sitting on the couch watching TV, eyes locked into the screen, not even sure what you're watching. Which pops more, the TV or the faded family portrait sitting in the frame above it? Spoiler alert, it's the TV. We live in a world of light being projected at us from screens so why wouldn't you want the same out of your trade show display? Backlighting makes your graphic pop and will draw in the eye's of attendees at your next trade show.

5 Tips for Designing Backlit Graphics

  1. Embrace Vibrant Colors

The more vibrant your color palette, the more your colors will POP! Backlighting accentuates colors exponentially so crank up your saturation levels for a graphic that really jumps out at you!

  2. Use High Contrast Images

Just like using vibrant colors will make your image stand out o will using a high contrast image. Try to have a nice mix of darks and lights and typically try to avoid having a completely high key or low key graphic.

  3. Avoid Very Light Colors on the Edges of the Design Whenever Possible

Sometimes there can be a little bit of shadowing around the edge of a backlit display. This is far more noticeable when the edges are a light color. It's best to try and keep the edges a medium tone or darker to hide any potential shadowing.

  4. Avoid Large Fields of White or Black

Often times large fields of black can look a little washed out when backlighting fabric. Having a large white background can sometimes work if there are other areas of vibrant color but in general you're missing out on your backlit potential with large fields of white.

  5. Keep Text and Logos Away from the Edges

For the same reason you want to avoid light colors near the edges you also want to avoid placing text or logos there as it will make any shadowing more noticeable and potentially make the text or logos less legible. We recommend keeping text and logos at least 6" away from the edges of a backlit display.

The old saying, "Rules are meant to be broken" couldn't be any more true than in the design world, but you have to know the rules before you can break them. So take these tips with a grain of salt and feel free to push the limits of what can be achieved with backlit graphics!
